UTD  Triumph at US Amateur East!

UTD-Orange team (Zaremba, Rylander, Morshedi, Rendon) took first place in US Amateur east held  February 15-17, 2003  in Parsipanny, New Jersey.   UTD-Green took 6th, and UTD-White (Schneider, Milovanovic, Roberts-Hoffman, Birkedahl) won mixed-doubles.  After 5 years, it was my first team competition.  Supported by my teammates (especially IM Dmitry Schneider), I made 5.5 out of 6!

Here is my game against GM Arthur Bisguier.  GM Bisguier-Milovanovic, New Jersey, February 16, 2003

1.d4 Hf6 2.Hf3 g6 3.Nc3 (This is favorite move of my team coach IM Tomislav Rakic) Bg7 (I decided to play the Pirc Defense.  It was second game in day, and I did not want to try to remember how to play with 3...d5) 4.e4 d6 5.Be3 c6 (with the Pirc, there always is a dilemma, where is going knight from b8) 6.Bd3 0-0 (I think better is 6....Bg4) 7.Qd2 Qa5 8.0-0 Nbd7 (again, better is Bg4) 9.Bh6! e5 10.dxe5 dxe511.Nd5 Qc5 12.Bxg7 Kxg713.Ne3 (I did not expect that move) Nb6?(I played this move very quickly, better is  13..b6 with equal position) 14.b4 Qe7 15.Qc3 Re8 16 a4 Ng4 17.a5 Nxe3 18.fxe3 Nd719.a6 c5 20.bxc5 (I worried about 20.axb7 Bxb7 21.b5) Qxc5 21.Qxc5 Nxc5 22.Bc4? (now Bisguier plays this move fast) Nxa6 (after 10 minutes I realized that white has nothing  on f-line) 23.Ra5 f6 24.Rfa1 Nb4 25.Rxa7 Rxa7 26.Rxa7 Nxc2 27.Kf2,Nb4 28.Bb5 Re7 29.Nd2 Be6 30.Nc4 Nd3 31.Kf3 Nc5 32.Nd6 Bd7 33.Bc4 Bc6 34.Ra8 Nxe4 35.Nxe4 f5 36.Rg8 Kh6 37.h4 Bxe4 38.Kg3 Rc7 39.Be2 Rc3 40.Bxf3 Bxf3 41.Kxf3 f4 white resigns.
