UTD WON AGAIN


On December 30,2004  in Wichita,Kanzas, for the second year in row,University of Texas at Dallas(UTD) chess team won the Pan American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championship. The decisive point  occurred in fourth round when UTD trounced its archrival, the University of Maryland-Baltimore County 3-1 ( IM Panchanathan-GM Onischuk 1:0 !! IM Simutowe-GM Blehm 1:0 ! IM Vavrak-IM Charbonneau 1:0
M Kujovic-M Lopez 0:1 )
UTD team is coached by IM Rade Milovanovic. (It was my 6th Pan American,since 1999, and total result with UTD A team is: 28 wins, 8 draws and 0 loss!)

recognized Coach IM Rade Milovanovic and UTD Chess Team,

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The 2003-2004 chess team from The University of 
Texas at Dallas (UTD) captured first place at the prestigious 49th 
Pan American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championship, and this 
outstanding achievement provides a perfect opportunity to honor the 
myriad accomplishments of this exceptional group; and
	WHEREAS, After tying for first place in 2000 and 2001, the UTD 
chess team outwitted such formidable foes as the University of 
Maryland, Baltimore County, Stanford University, and Brooklyn 
College to secure the school's first-ever outright title at the Pan 
American championship, which is held annually in December to 
determine the best college team in North, South, and Central 
America; and
	WHEREAS, Originally coached by Dr. Tim Redman, director of 
the UTD chess program, and now led by coach and international master 
Rade Milovanovic, the UTD chess team has enjoyed remarkable success 
over its eight-year history; and
	WHEREAS, Members of the 2003-2004 UTD chess team include 
grandmaster and team captain Marcin Kaminski; international 
masters Dmitry Schneider, Magesh Chandran Panchanathan, and Amon 
Simutowe, and FIDE masters Andrew Whatley, Andrei Zaremba, Dennis 
Rylander, Daniel Fernandez, Michal Kujovic, and Ali Morshedi; and
	WHEREAS, These exemplary chess players have also generously 
donated their time and considerable talents to the Dallas 
Independent School District (DISD), providing chess instruction 
and assisting with UTD's first chess tournament for DISD high 
school students; and
	WHEREAS, The UTD chess team has demonstrated the requisite 
mental toughness and competitive excellence necessary to succeed 
not only in chess but also in the classroom, and it is most 
appropriate to pay tribute to its worthy members at this time; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Coach Rade 
Milovanovic and The University of Texas at Dallas chess team for 
winning the Pan American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championship 
and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, 
be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Coach Milovanovic and the UTD team as an expression of 
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
